Blue Hippo Tang (Palette Surgeonfish)

The Blue Hippo Tang is one of the most striking saltwater fish, known for its bright blue body, bold black markings, and vibrant yellow tail. Popularized as “Dory,” this fish is a favorite among aquarists but requires more advanced care due to its size and sensitivity.

Juveniles may adapt to smaller tanks, but adults can grow over 12 inches and ultimately need around 250 gallons of swimming space. They are generally peaceful with most tankmates, though they should not be kept with other tangs.
